Radiohead, R.E.M. & Chili Peppers form supergroup

2009 is fast becoming the year of the supergroup, what with Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones kick starting with their recently formed band Them Crooked Vultures. Well Thom Yorke has now announced his plan to get in on the action by forming his very own supergroup.

The Radiohead lead squealer has teamed up with Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist Flea and R.E.M helping-hand Joey Waronker, for his forthcoming solo tour. The unlikely partnership will see Yorke and pals play a duo of shows at the Oprheum Theatre in LA on the 4th & 5th of October, with a plan to extend the dates to a world wide tour.

Scribbling on his blog, Yorke said; "In the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting a band together for fun to play 'The Eraser' stuff live and the new songs etc, to see if it could work! We don’t really have a name and the set will not be very long cuz... well… we haven’t got that much material yet! But come and check it out if you are in the area."

Long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich has also signed up for the as yet un-titled project.

Our money's on ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan and Dave, formerly of Chas & Dave fame to form their own supergroup next.
