£3.1m for 90 minutes work

Tom Jones has smashed the record paid to one artist for a one-off gig. The legendary crooner pocketed the tidy sum of £3.1m to perform at the 62nd Red Cross Ball in Monaco last week.

Although TJ bashed through all his hits, including 'It's Not Unusual', 'Sex Bomb', 'Kiss' and 'Green, Green Grass of Home,' his set only last for 90 minutes. That’s £34,444 per minute and £574 per second. Nice work if you can get it.

The Mirror, who reported the story, questioned the ethics of Tom Jones earning such a hefty amount for a charity gig. However, it's thought that he donated a large proportion of the fee to the charity, which raised over £10m on the evening. The previous record was held by Sir Elton John who bagged £2.6m for a private show for a Russian Billionaire.
