A Brit good

Hip-hop legend and over-the-hill mogul of rap Jay-Z has been confirmed as the star foreign turn at next year’s Brit Awards, dwarfing anything that our tiny little island will be able to offer up in comparison. Not only that, but the man is bringing over some superstar friends to help him make the Brits seem even more pokey and irrelevant than they did before.

Jiggaman is set to perform a medley of his biggest hits, which sounds incredibly lame, and he will also be doing a duet with some sort of surprise artist, although don’t be surprised if they announce it about a week before hand to generate publicity and ratings for the telly show. So far the best bets seem to be organic fop Chris Martin, or one of America’s two premier soul girls, Alicia Keys and Beyonce.

As if to slam home the point, the world’s most mediocre pop star – that’s Robbie Williams, by the way – will also be playing the event, which takes place at Earl’s Court on 16 February, and not only that, but he’ll be receiving an Outstanding Contribution to Music award to boot. The shame of it.
