A living heroin

With Bob Dylan turning 70 years old this week (24 May), it’s hard to turn your head and not see someone talking about the legendary protest poet. The latest comes from BBC News, who have unearthed a lost interview in which the singer said he once had a heroin addiction.

The interview with Dylan, which was recorded in Denver, Colarado in March 1966, reveals that he dabbled with the brown stuff whilst living in New York. ‘I kicked a heroin habit in New York City’ Dylan can be heard saying on the tape, ‘I got very, very strung out for a while, I mean really, very strung out. And I kicked the habit. I had about a $25-a-day habit and I kicked it.’

This is the first time knowledge of Bob Dylan’s addiction has come to light. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB!
