A Model Citizen

Statues appear to be like buses, just as you wait years for one, along come two at the same time. While everyone is having a giggle at the Michael Jackson waxwork randomly erected outside Fulham FC, a more eye-pleasing tribute to Kurt Cobain has been unveiled in his hometown.

Yesterday (5 April) marks the 17th anniversary of the Nirvana frontman’s death, and in tribute a statue of his signature guitar the Fender Jag-Stang has been unveiled in Aberdeen in the US state of Washington – Cobain’s hometown. The statue is in North Aberdeen near the Young Street Bridge, which is mentioned in the lyrics of Nirvana’s song 'Something In The Way'.

The statue features the lyric ‘One more special message to go and then I'm done and I can go home’, taken from their song ‘On A Plain’.
