Adele forced to cancel UK gigs due to illness

Adele has been forced to cancel more dates on her current UK tour due to illness. The London singer cancelled gigs in Cardiff and Blackpool scheduled for 7 and 8 September last week as well as shows at Wolverhampton this weekend.

A statement on Adele's website gave details of the 23-year-old's health problems: 'It is with regret that due to continuing problems with a serious cold and chest infection, Adele has had to postpone her shows this weekend in Wolverhampton.'

'Her doctors have insisted she recovers fully before returning to the tour. The shows will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity and all original tickets will remain valid. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Sincerest apologises for any inconvenience caused.'

The 'Rolling In The Deep' singer posted a personal apology on her website earlier in the week apologising to disappointed fans for the cancellation of her Cardiff gig.

'I'm still not well enough. I woke up feeling a bit better but not by a lot, but decided to head towards Cardiff anyway in the hope I'd be able to sing tonight - halfway there I realised it was unrealistic. I apologise profusely, I know many of you would have travelled to Cardiff today for the show. I'm so so sorry!'

Adele had been due to perform at the Mercury Music awards on 6 September but illness forced her to pull out. Despite her ongoing health problems it wasn't all bad news for Adele with her album '21' set to become the UK's biggest selling album of the year.
