All is full of (interactive cyber) love

Björk’s much anticipated new album ‘Biophilia’ which will be showcased at the Manchester International Festival later this month will have an iPad app for every song.

According to the guardian the Icelandic pioneer’s seventh album is set to be an immersive interactive multimedia extravaganza. The album will come out in two formats; the first will be the regular album cycle and the second will be an app version of ‘Biophilia’ for the iPod, featuring individual apps for each song.

Scott Snibe, the artist commissioned to collaborate with Björk on the project, has commended the singer for her characteristically innovative approach. He said: ‘Björk's put herself way at the forefront here by saying, 'We'll release this album and these apps at the same time and they're all part of the same story.' The app is an expression of the music, the story and the idea.’

Björk has spent much of her career striving to create a synergy between the organic and the electronic; her new project ‘Biophilia’ (love of life)- part live show, part album, part iPad app- demonstrates her biggest leap yet. And for an artist as experimental and free thinking as Björk, that’s saying something!
