And the best cover song of all time is...

Everyone loves a good cover version, don’t they? And everyone is a little partial to a rubbish ear splitting one too. Well, the lovely beings at planet NME have combined the two by asking 15,000 of their readers what they think the best and worst covers are.

First up; the best, and Muse’s cover of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’ show that music fans are short sighted by picking a very much in vogue band at number 1. There are some ‘classic’ in there though; ‘The Beatles ‘ Twist & Shout’ in second place and Hendrix justifiably makes it into the top 10 twice with ‘Hey Joe’ at 4 and ‘All Along The Watchtower’ and 8.

Now the fun bit; the worst, and looking through the list they’re all crimes to humanity. Top of the flops is Britney Spears’ pee-poor cover of ‘I Love Rock n Roll’, Ronan Keating’s ‘Fairytale Of New York’ is at 2 and Celine Dion’s 'You Shook Me All Night Long' at 3. No arguments there, although not one X-Factor squealer makes the entire top 10, hmmmm....
