Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch recovering from cancer

Adam Yauch from the The Beastie Boys is reported to be "rapidly recovering" from cancer surgery that he had to remove a tumour from his salivary gland. The musician has assured fans that "things are moving along".

Yauch, aka MCA, revealed to fans last month that he had a tumour and a lymph node which had needed to be removed forcing the legendary New York band to cancel a number of gigs and postpone the release of their forthcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1.

The rapper has returned home after surgery "to relax, have home-cooked food and hang out with the family". Yauch will now undergo radiation treatment. "No sooner am I on the mend from this first torture than they are lining up the next one. The next treatment will be radiation. That involves blasting you with some kind of beam for a few minutes a day, five days a week, for about seven weeks."

The Beastie Boy thanked Coldplay, Jay-Z, Karen O and Q-Tip for tributes at the All Points West festival last week. "Just wanted to thank them and everyone else who sent positive thoughts my way. I do think that all of the well wishes have contributed to the fact that my treatment and recovery are going well."
