Beatles' 'Eleanor Rigby' sells for 100K

A Hospital Account bearing the signature ‘E Rigby’ has sold at auction for £115,000. That’s over a hundred grand for a piece of paper which ‘might’ have been signed by the woman who ‘might’ have had a Beatles song written about her.

Speculation about the subject of the song was fuelled by Paul McCartney who wrote the lyrics but always maintained that Rigby was a fictional character. He sent the document to the Sunbeam Trust Charity to auction which is a bit of a giveaway really.

Eleanor Rigby was a scullery maid in Liverpool’s City Hospital. Just a coincidence? Hmm, a hundred grand says it’s not.
