Beyonce ideal role model says Obama
President Obama has called Beyoncé the ideal role model for his daughters. A grateful President paid the tribute at a fundraiser in which Beyoncé and Jay-Z raised $4 million for Obama’s re-election campaign. Tickets were $40,000 a head at the lavish dinner at Jay-Z’s 40/40 club in New York. Beyoncé introduced the President, announcing that they "believe in his vision".
The President was equally effusive, according to reports in US Today. "To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship," he said. "Beyoncé could not be a better role model for my daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise".
Obama suggested that he and the first couple of hip-hop had shared experiences. "Many of us here – and I know I speak for Jay and Bey – remember what it’s like not having anything, and we know people who were just as talented as us that didn’t get the same break, the same chance. We remember some of our parents or grandparents who came here as immigrants and got a little bit of help along the way to go to that school or be able to start that first business."
The President joked that he and Jay-Z had a lot in common. "We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are. So, you know, we've got a little bond there. It's hard but it's OK," he said.
Jay-Z may have restored a little of his liberal reputation after his recent negative comments about the Occupy Wall Street movement, although the ostentatious tower of expensive champagne at his club showed that he is not embarrassed about his wealth.
