Bono & Jay-Z team up for Haiti

Jay-Z and Bono are recording a song together to raise money for victims of the Haiti earthquake. While the collaboration was announced earlier in the week, U2 axeman The Edge has shed some more light on the project: 'Last night we wrote a song. Bono got a call from a producer, Swizz. He and Jay-Z wanted to do something for Haiti. So, Bono came up with the phrase on the phone, and last night we were here, we wrote a song - finished, recorded and send (sic) back to them. So, that might be the next thing you hear from us!'

The collaboration will be performed by Jay-Z, Bono and The Edge in London as part of the 'Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief,' an international telethon. Simultaneous concerts will take place in New York, Los Angeles and Haiti with one off collaborations being available for download on iTunes the following day at 99cents each.

Additional artists taking part include Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira, Sting, Coldplay, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and more tbc.

The concert airs this Friday at 8pm on a spread of channels including MTV and VH1. All proceeds will be donated to the Haiti relief effort.

Come on peeps, dig deep...
