Brit Awards 2011 venue change

It cost somewhere in the region of 18 trillion pounds, opened late and has been criticized by everyone and their dogs, but the Millennium Dome has well and truly changed its image and is now seen as the prime-cut venue for all things live music.

Now rebranded as London’s 02 Arena, the former Millennium Dome has bagged the biggest bash in the music calendar after it was confirmed today that it will play host to next year’s Brit Awards ceremony. Earl’s Court Exhibition Centre is the usual venue for the annual back slapping event, but February 15th 2011 will see the bald spots venture south of the river to get their free champers and canapés.

Brit Awards Chairman David Joseph said: ‘Looking at what the Brits stands for - the 'must see' spectacle and the unique performances which stretch every artist who performs - it was clear that moving to a state-of-the-art venue like The O2 was an obvious evolution.’

Let’s just hope there's not a tube strike on eh?
