Cat Burglars

Dusty old folkster Cat Stevens AKA Yusuf Islam has claimed that dusty old popsters Coldplay nicked one of his songs for one of their big hits.

He says, and not having ever heard the song we're not going to be counter-claiming, that his 1970 hit Foreigner Suite is the basis for Coldplay's super-poptastic smash Viva La Vida. And very animated about it he is too.

'There’s been this argument about Coldplay stealing this melody from Joe Satriani, but, if you listen to it, it’s mine! It’s the Foreigner Suite, it is!' See?

But really, he needs to get in line to voice his complaint, as the band already have two other people wanting to know where the credit for their 'homage' is. As well as the aforementioned Satriani New York band Creaky Boards claimed the tune resembled their song The Songs I didn't Write, which despite having a brilliantly appropriate title, doesn't really sound much like it at all. So there. Anyway, Chris is too nice a bloke to steal, surely?
