Coldplay hit back at Satriani plagiarism claims
Youch. Coldplay have hit back at claims that they ripped off 80s guitar twiddler Joe Satriani for their hit single Vida la Vida, and the mungbean munching luvvies don't mince their words. In fact they're really quite annoyed, and not afraid to show it in a very nice, polite Coldplay type of way.
They said: "With the greatest possible respect to Joe Satriani, we have now unfortunately found it necessary to respond publicly to his allegations. If there are any similarities between our two pieces of music, they are entirely coincidental, and just as surprising to us as to him. Joe Satriani is a great musician, but he did not write the song Viva La Vida. We respectfully ask him to accept our assurances of this and wish him well with all future endeavours. Coldplay."
Translation: 'Eff off haters, we didn't nick Satriani's song, he's good but he's not that good, in fact we're surprised he's even had the balls to suggest it! Joe's off the Christmas card this year, now if you'll excuse us we've got some tofu to eat, all the best, Coldplay.
