Conquering legend or has-been?

It's been 17 years, incredibly enough, since Snoop Doggy Dogg first burst on the scene with his wildly enjoyable debut album Doggystyle. Since then he's proven adept at the media game, dropping the 'Doggy' when it got a bit too ridiculous, appearing in reality TV shows and just recently, scoring a number one by guest-starring on Katy Perry's world-conquering 'California Gurls.'

But in the midst of all of that there's a sense that Dogg has let the standards - and sales - of his own records slip a bit. Hands up anyone who cherishes their copy of Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss? Yeah, that's what we thought.

So the news that Dogg is releasing his latest material under the name 'Doggystyle 2' suggests one of two things: either it's his best material since his debut, or it's terrible and it needs the name to shift copies.

We'll find out which soon enough...
