Coop a load of Alice

Alice Cooper’s got a new album done, dusted and ready for release. Entitled ‘Welcome 2 My Nightmare’, the singer’s 25th album is intended as a sequel to his 1975 debut as a solo artist, Welcome to my Nightmare. We like what he’s done with the ‘2’ – the use of text-speak, like what the kids use, bringing the ageing rocker bang up to date.

Cooper made the announcement on his radio show Nights With Alice Cooper broadcast on Planet Rock last Saturday. The original Nightmare album was a concept record about the dreams of a character called Steven. Of the sequel, Cooper said:

It's 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare', and it's the next nightmare. 30 years later, he [Steven] has another nightmare, and this one is even worse than the last one.’

The album, produced by the original Nightmare producer Bob Ezrin, will be out ‘sometime’ in the summer. If all goes well we could have a prequel to the album with Alice Cooper reading bedtime stories.
