Dizzee Rascal to headline Glasto?

U2 are officially confirmed to headline the prestigious Pyramid stage and Muse are almost certainly joining them on another night but we’re still no closer to knowing who will be the third and final headliner at this year’s Glastonbury festival, that’s until today (Jan 4) when organiser Emily Eavis nearly let slip about who could be taking the final slot.

Talking to BBC 6 Music, Britain’s most famous farmer’s daughter stayed tight-lipped when probed about acts confirmed but did confirm that headlining or not Dizzee Rascal will definitely be playing the 40th anniversary of the Somerset hippy fest.

‘We are working on it full time and we’re trying to get our third headliner at the moment which is quite exciting,’ Eavis told presenter Lauren Laverne.

‘A lot of bands really want to play but because we’ve only got three nights to headline, I think a lot of people are going to be doing secret sets,’ she added. ‘There will be a lot of surprises, more than we’ve ever had.’

In the interview Eavis categorically said yank grungers Green Day won’t be making their headline debut, but also didn’t deny that The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Pixies, Coldplay, Fleetwood Mac and The Chemical Brothers were playing. Hang on! So, we’re back where we started, apart from Dizzee, who will be playing somewhere over the weekend. Great.

Glastonbury Festival takes place June 23rd -27th and is sold out.
