Don't do it!

This summer’s Libertines reunion has got most once-fashionable indie boys into such a state of frenzy that they can hardly wait to strap on their winkle pickers, pop on the fedoras and party like it’s 2004 all over again. You can already see the massed ranks of craggy looking desperadoes at Reading already: pushing 30, already past it and living in another era. It’s kind of pathetic, really.

However, one group of fans aren’t already in there, gasping for a look at Pete Doherty’s saggy, heroin soaked features, while dad rocker Carl strains his no doubt arthritic fingers playing their modern day skiffle; The Mystery Jets wish that the band had waited a few years to get back together, to give us a proper old boys feel about the whole thing.

‘They were our band. We were 18 at the time and we lived in London,’ said the band to XFM. ‘I think they need to wait another 10 years. I can’t wait for it to happen, but they’ve only been gone four years. It’s not enough, is it?’
