First 3D TVs go on sale

They’ve been hyped as the future of telly and for the first time ever people could actually get their own eyes on one - the first 3D TVs have gone on sale in the UK today.

£1799 – that’s the starter price John Lewis are charging for you to take home a Samsung 3D TV. However, you’ll need to fork out extra cash for the subscription to 3D TV enabled telly channels such as SKY 3D and, more importantly, for compatible specs, approx £298 for a set of four if dad, mum and the two kids want a go. And if you want a 3D Blu-ray player then that’s another £349.

Of course prices will come down but no one ever said the future would be cheap.
