First unofficial England World Cup song...

With the recent news that England aren’t going to release an official World Cup song for fear that it would distract the team from actually doing well in the World Cup, its now up to the unofficial anthems to help bring the country together and get behind the England team's early exit.

The first of presumably 100s of songs has reared its ugly head online and it’s courtesy of one half of 90’s kid’s favourites Trev & Simon. Remember them? Go For Goal is by unsigned South London band Sucker and features Trev or Simon (it’s hard to tell who) on maracas. They’re self proclaimed as being The Clash meets Chas & Dave and highlights of their unknown career to date include playing the John Peel stage at Glastonbury in 2005 and the BBC’s short-lived version of The X-Factor Fame Academy with Claudia Winkleman.

It’s fair to say they’ve not so much as set the bar high for forthcoming England World Cup songs as buried it. To give the boys credit, though, they have used an inoffensive font for the artwork. You can listen to Go For Goal from Sucker here
