Going Nowhere Man!

December 8th 2010 will mark the 30th anniversary of the death of John Lennon; the former Beatle and universally acclaimed demi-god was shot dead by crazed fan Mark Chapman whilst walking near his Dakota Building home in New York.

Mark Chapman was 25 years old when he pulled the trigger, and since then has spent the majority of his life behind bars in a New York State penitentiary. On numerous occasions Chapman has formerly applied for parole but an incoming release looks highly unlikely after it was denied him for the sixth time yesterday.

According to the BBC, the New York state parole board said; ‘this premeditated, senseless and selfish act of tragic consequence... leads to the conclusion that your discretionary release remains inappropriate at this time and incompatible with the welfare of the community.’

Apart from the obvious, the other major problem with murdering a Beatle is that everyone’s a fan. Mark Chapman will have to wait 2 years to apply for parole again.
