Grammy Award noms are in

Move over Smash Hits Poll Winners Party because the big guns of the music awards have announced their list of nominations for 2009.

A relatively unknown American lady called Beyoncé leads the Grammy field with a whopping ten nominations, including album of the year for ‘I Am...Sasha Fierce’ and song of the year for ‘Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It). Canada’s answer to Joss Stone, Ms Taylor Swift wasn’t far behind with eight noms.

The respected awards as it always is, is dominated by artists Stateside. But flying the flag for the Brits are Coldplay with two noms including Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for ‘Life In Technicolor II,’ and The Ting Tings with Best New Artist. Considering though that there are 109 categories in all, that’s 109 categories where it would have been nice see more acts representing the British Isles.
