Guerilla Gigs

The biggest black mark against Damon Albarn’s pet project Gorillaz is that it’s pretty bleeding difficult to recreate the 2D animation of Jamie Hewitt on the live stage. When they first started out 10 years ago (yes, 10 years ago) the live experience was made up of a white blank canvas draped in front of the stage with a real band playing behind, casting some hard to see silhouettes on to it. Basically, rubbish. However, when Gorillaz played a mini residency at the Manchester Opera House in 2005 they more than got their act together, wowing the sell out crowds with their flash digi-mation.

They haven't played London since the Kentish Town Forum in 2001 but now, to help promote the 3rd and finest long player they’ve announced two gigs at the Camden Roundhouse on April 29th and 30th. Not only will it be a musical and, hopefully visual spectacular, they’ve already promised a steller line-up which includes Damon Albarn, Bashy, De La Soul, Mick Jones, Kano, Little Dragon, Mos Def, National Orchestra for Arabic Music, Gruff Rhys, Shaun Ryder, Paul Simonon and Bobby Womack.

Wanna go? Then all you need to do is hand over £45 at 9am this Friday at The Roundhouse when tickets go on sale. Oh, and pray to God it isn't already sold out.
