Happiness in Magazine

A copy of a magazine signed by John Lennon, in which he famously predicted that Christianity would end and that The Beatles were more popular than Jesus, has been sold at auction for $12,713 (around £7,000).

The copy of the September 1966 edition of Datebook, which was signed John C. Lennon, was won by an orthopaedic surgeon from New York City in a 17-day online auction. It’s unclear whether he would go on to burn it as a symbol of thanks to Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.

In the magazine, Lennon said: ‘Christianity will go. It will vanish and shrink. I needn't argue about that; I'm right and I will be proved right. We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first - rock ‘n’ roll or Christianity.’ There both holding out just fine, as it happens.
