'Hello Soulja Boy?.... Oldham?'

Sometimes the intelligence of the human race has to be questioned. We're not quite as dumb as dogs, but honestly, when people start thinking that pop stars are going to give their phone number out through one of their songs, you've got to think that we'll be going extinct soon.

For some reason hundreds of Soulja Boy fans have been calling up a family in Oldham because a sequence of digits he reads out on his song Kiss Me Thru The Phone was exactly the same as their phone number. Apparently the weirdos are actually disappointed that old Soulja doesn't answer the phone with a cheery 'how do', and instead have either Garry Matley or Catriona Howard Smith answer the phone in a thick Lancastrian accent. Which would probably be 'ey oop', or something else really northern.

'Some of them really want to believe that they have got through to their heartthrob,' said Howard Smith. 'They insist that we must know him in some way, we have to be “special” to him. Some of them are devastated when we have to tell them that he doesn't live in Oldham, but over the other side of the Atlantic.' Oh dear.
