He’s still the Modfather

As we turn into the final month of 2010 it’s that time of year, when everyman and his dog announce their ‘Best Of The Year’ rundowns.

Uncut Magazine have kept it simple and gone with the ‘Album Of The Year’ and yesterday (29th Nov) the one, the one (don’t worry, not Chesney Hawkes) Paul Weller has scooped the gong. Being no stranger to the album awards the 52 year old ledge has proved he’s well and truly back in fine fetal with his latest album ‘Wake Up the Nation’. Talking about the accolade he modestly said ‘I’m pleasantly surprised but the album came my producer and co-writer Simon Dine, really. He had these very rough backing track ideas, which he sent me. Once I heard them, I got excited too. I could see a whole new sound emerging out of them.’

The nominees were; The Coral's 'Butterfly House', Arcade Fire's 'Suburbs', The Gaslight Anthem's 'American Slang' and 'Plastic Beach' by Gorillaz.
