I remember celebrating National Poetry Day

Big shot chart-topper Tinie Tempah, whose has already had two number one singles in this year, is clearly on the course for stardom. His debut album Written In The Stars looks to be yet another release of his set to go to number one, and in honour of that here’s a little quote from the man himself.

Our new favourite pop star (we’re still jigging alone to Pass Out) told The Sun about how he learned to write music through poetry classes at school. It’s slightly different to you average rapper’s childhood stories, given that there appears to be no mention of strallies and general rough ghetto chat.

‘I actually remember celebrating National Poetry Day at school, I remember having to write and read a load,’ he said. ‘When we had to write our own, I would get away with writing lyrics - I found it easy to write verses and rhymes as I was basically writing a song.

‘People used to say poems were different to songs but I don't think they are. We would study poems forever - so you had no choice but to get into it.’
