'I'm baking a cake that has a bitter jelly'

Lady Gaga has given a few measly little hints to her fans about what her new album is going to be like, albeit in her typically obtuse way. She’s the latest cover star for Rolling Stone magazine, and in her chat with them revealed that she plans to announce the name of her new long player – which is due for release early next year – at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

‘I think I'm gonna get the album title tattooed on me and put out the photo,’ she said in the interview. ‘I've been working on it for months now, and I feel very strongly that it's finished right now. It came so quickly. Some artists take years; I don't. I write music every day.’

Gaga also talked about what direction her music was taking, saying that she was going down a more bitter path to making more bitter cakes, with even more bitter jelly. Really, we’re not entirely sure what she’s going on about here, to be honest. But there you go.

‘Why are we still talking about ‘Don't ask, don't tell?’ It's like, what f**king year is it? It makes me crazy! And I have been for three years baking cakes – and now I'm going to bake a cake that has a bitter jelly. The message of the new music is now more bitter than it was before. Because the sweeter the cake, the more bitter the jelly can be.’
