Interpol's Carlos Dengler quits the band

Interpol have announced that bassist Carlos Dengler has decided to quit the band following the completion of their fourth album. The New York rockers made the announcement in a statement released earlier today.

‘After the completion of the album, Carlos informed the rest of us that he would be leaving the band. He has decided to follow another path, and to pursue new goals,’ the statement said.

‘This separation is amicable, and we whole-heartedly wish him great happiness and success. We will remain, as always, deeply respectful fans of this blazingly talented individual.’

Dengler has branched out into soundtrack work for cinema and television in recent years and the band have announced that they will tour with a number of high profile replacements on bass.

‘We can tell you that we have some very exciting new recruits joining us on the road. So stay tuned - we will promptly be revealing the identities of these illustrious players,’ the band explained.

Interpol have released the song ‘Lights’ as a sneak preview from the new album which is available for download via their website.
