Ivor Novello noms are in

When it comes to picking up awards in music there are really only two gongs worth the while; one is the annual Mercury Music Prize (best album of the year as voted for by critics) and the other is the Ivor Novello Awards (excellence in British song writing). Everything else - especially the Brit Awards are back slapping political awards designed to boost album sales for whoever needs the money.

Anyway, the nominations for the 55th Ivor Novello Awards are in and it’s great news if your name is Lily Allen or Dizzee Rascal; both are up for awards. Pint size Lily’s single ‘The Fear’ is up against Dizzee’s single ‘Bonkers’ in the 'Best Song Musically & Lyrically' and 'Most Performed Work’ categories, whilst Dizzee also receives nods for ‘Best Contemporary Song’ ‘ and ‘Album Award’ for Tongue N Cheek.
