Jarvis Cocker releases free National Trust album

As far as concept albums go this one may have to take the biscuit, but if you’ve ever pined to own your own collection of random noises including people walking, birds tweeting and shores lapping then your luck is definitely in.

Pulp main man and national treasure Jarvis Cocker has teamed up with the National Trust to release an album of sounds recorded at various UK Trust locations. Talking up his new project Jarvis said: ‘I hope this album is a holiday for the ears. It's not really meant to be listened to intently, like a piece of music, but more as something to have on in the background to aid relaxation or contemplation.’

He added: 'Plus, you get to visit 13 National Trust properties in the space of 30 minutes. No mean feat. I hope it has the feel of one continuous journey and conjures up an image in the mind's eye of the places featured. I also hope it could inspire the listeners to then visit the sites for themselves.’

The soothing long player is free to download from www.Nationaltrust.org.uk now.
