Legendary singer-songwriter John Martyn dies aged 60
Legendary singer-songwriter John Martyn has died at the age of 60. Famous for blurring the lines between folk and jazz as well as for his distinctive voice, Martyn's best known album was his 1973 work Solid Air, a tribute to his hero Nick Drake.
Martyn worked with an array of musicians during his prolific forty-year career including David Gilmour, Eric Clapton and Phil Collins. The latter part of Martyn's life was blighted by health problems caused by his battle with alcoholism and he was consigned to a wheelchair from 2003 onwards.
