Lily Allen's new album will be called Sheezus

Controversial musician Lily Allen has announced the title of her next album. She’s chosen to call it “Sheezus”, which is a nod to Kanye West’s latest release “Yeezus”. She revealed the album’s name on last night’s edition of The Graham Norton Show.

She performed her latest single Air Balloon for Graham Norton and announced that the new ablum will be released in late spring or early summer. She called the album's name “a confident title choice,” adding that it’s also “a little nod to Kanye West.”

After telling her fans in 2009 that she wouldn’t make another album, Allen spent time working with other artists and in other fields including fashion. She opened her open fashion shop, Lucy in Disguise, in 2010 in partnership with her sister and performed on "Just Be Good to Green" by Professor Green during the same year. In 2011, she spent time composing songs for the musical version of Bridget Jones's Diary, and in 2012 she featured on "True Love", a song from Pink's album, The Truth About Love. Last her cover of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know" was used in the John Lewis Christmas campaign and she released her first new material since 2009 with "Hard Out Here".

That single’s release put Allen back in the headlines thanks for controversial lyrics like: “You should probably lose some weight / Because we can’t see your bones,” and “If I told you about my sex life you’d call me a slut / When boys be talking about their bitches, no one’s making a fuss.” Critics were divided on whether she was successful in satirising the music industry’s obsession with female artist’s appearance as her video, which featured dancers moving seductively around, was too similar to the sorts of music videos her lyrics were attacking.

Earlier in February, the English singer released another new single, “Air Ballon” and she contributed the song “L8 CMMR” to the soundtrack for Girls Vol.2, so she’s been busy this month.
