Modfather gets grimey

We’ve been championing British rappers on here for a long old time now, from Dizzee Rascal to Wiley, Kano to Professor Green; we’re all about up-and-coming UK talent over here. By the way, if you haven’t downloaded the two mixtapes that north London don Sway has released, you’re a chump. Give that man some love.

Anyway, the latest grime sensation to make waves is Dagenham’s Devlin, who many see as the next big thing to come out of the rap underground. The east Londoner has made such a name for himself that Paul Weller has invited the young lad to perform with him at his shows in Brighton and Wembley.

The pair collaborated on Weller’s B-Side Fast Car/Slow Traffic after the pop legend called him out of the blue, which shows that he’s still got his ear to the ground, even in his dotage. Whether the daft old racists who seem to follow the Modfather about these days will like it much is another thing altogether, mind you.

‘Paul's well into grime,’ said Devlin to The Sun. ‘To have someone like that call you up is mind-blowing. The geezer is a legend in his own right so to have him supporting grime acts is only a good thing.’
