Morrissey released from hospital after collapse

Morrissey has been discharged from hospital after he collapsed on stage during a gig in Swindon on Saturday night.

The former Smiths legend appeared to faint during the opening song of the sell out concert and was carried from the stage by two members of his backing band.

Members of the crowd reported afterward that the 50-year-old singer appeared to be in pain during the performance of 'This Charming Man', which turned out to be the only song on the night.

Morrissey was later taken to Great Western Hospital where he was kept overnight as a precautionary measure. A statement regarding the singer's health was posted on his official website morrisseysworld.com earlier today.

"Morrissey is in stable condition after his collapse in Swindon Saturday night. Thanks go out to all his well wishers, more information will be posted as soon as it is available."

As a result of the incident Morrissey's gig at the Bournemouth Academy, scheduled for tomorrow night, has been postponed although according to the singer's PA the former Smiths singer is hopeful of that he can play in the Albert Hall on Tuesday.
