Mos Death

Hip-hop legend Mos Def is making a documentary about a little known all-black early-70s punk band, who had the charming moniker of Death. Delightful.

The band formed in Detroit in 1971, and Mos is teaming up with Roc-A-Fella records co-founder Damon Dash to shed some light on their story. The pair have hired Coodie and Chike, who are best known for their work on Kanye West’s Through The Wire video, to film it.

‘It's going to be great,’ Mos Def said in an interview with Filter Magazine. ‘These dudes were pre-Sex Pistols, pre-Bad Brains, pre-all that shit, and nobody knows them. I don't understand how the whole world could forget them.’
