Mutya Buena wins rights to Sugababes name

Here's a battle that barely seems worth bothering with: Mutya Buena has won the rights to the 'Sugababes' name. You'd think that having quit the group and disappearing off the face of the earth would have meant just leaving the new girls to just get on with it – but no! Instead she has official EU recognition. Nice.

The former pop star is now listed on the UE Trademark website as an owner of the Sugababes title, but here's where it gets a bit messy: She has been granted the rights to goods under Class 16, which according to the EU means 'paper, cardboard and goods made from these materials, not included in other classes; namely stationery, paper gift wrap and paper gift wrapping ribbons.' No mention of music, nor the materials that one would make CDs with. Nonetheless Buena seems very happy.

'I won the official name of the Sugababes now!!! I deserve this! I'm over the moon!' She wrote on her Faceebook page, before adding: 'in tears feels like a dream (sic).'
