The teenage son of Australian musician Nick Cave has tragically died after falling from a cliff in Brighton on Tuesday. Arthur Cave had been hanging out with friends before he fell approximately 60 feet from a steep cliff.
Arthur was found laying on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap shortly after 6pm yesterday. Members of the public hurried towards where he fell and attempted to resuscitate him at the scene with first aid.
He was then taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but unfortunately his injuries were severe and he died shortly after arrival. His death is being investigated by the coroner's office but is not in any way thought to be suspicious.
A statement from Cave and his wife Susie read "Our son Arthur died on Tuesday evening. He was our beautiful, happy loving boy. We ask that we be given the privacy our family needs to grieve at this difficult time." Arthur is also survived by his twin brother Earl.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said "A 15-year-old boy who was found with life-threatening injuries on the underpass of Ovingdean Gap, having fallen from the cliff above, has sadly died in hospital on Tuesday." Tributes poured in for Arthur from shocked members of the public and those in the music industry.
