Not even Keane like the Tories

Ever since D:Ream’s ‘Things Could Only Get Better’ was used by New Labour in the1997 General Election, popular music has been synonymous with canvassing for votes and terrible taste in music. May 6th 2010 is the date for the upcoming election and, to help boost their ‘street cred’ the Conservative party has adopted Keane’s MOR track ‘Everybody’s Changing’ as their signature tune.

Its debut was at a Tory conference in South London yesterday when David Cameron made his grand entrance to the 2004 song. But, talking about it on Twitter Keane are not best pleased. Their drummer Richard Hughes said he was ‘horrified’ that Conservatives had used their song: I’m told the Tories played Keane at their manifesto launch. I’m horrified. To be clear – we were not asked. I will not vote for them.’

Dear oh dear Dave. You can’t even get the thumbs up from the most middle class band in the business.
