Oooh, kids today...

The first sign of old age is when you take a look at the music kids today are listening to and decide that you don’t like it; so we’re sad to announce that hip-hop legend and all round rap monster Jay-Z has passed the invisible line into fogeydom.

Brooklyn’s finest has said that what the young ‘uns make and listen to today is lacking real emotion and love, and that they don’t express their true feelings. As if any form of pop music back in 1996, back when Jiggaman first broke through, was somehow any different.

‘We have to find our way back to true emotion,’ said the hip-hopper. ‘This is going to sound so sappy, but love is the only thing that stands the test of time.

‘The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill was all about love. Andre 3000, The Love Below. Even NWA, at its core, that was about love for a neighbourhood.

‘We're chasing a lot of sounds now, but I'm not hearing anyone's real voice. The emotion of where you are in your life. The mortgage scandal. People losing their jobs. I want to hear about that.’ The Mortgage scandal? Not even The Clash would have tried making music about something so worthy and dull.
