Pete Doherty on life support

When Pete Doherty cancelled a series of Irish gigs back in October the official line from his people was that the it was due to ‘exhaustion’. However the man himself has revealed that it was a little more serious than that; he was put on a life support machine.

‘If I hadn't been on a life support machine I'd have been in Ireland’ the Babyshambles singer told the NME, ‘but my heart stopped’.

‘The doctors' immediate thought was that it was to do with drugs but it wasn't’ he said. ‘What happened? Well, I don't know. I don't remember. I was running into the walls, making steering wheel signs with my hands. And then I just… stopped. My body just stopped.’

To help Doherty beat his drug addiction he now has a medical implant that eases his craving for class-As. Babyshambles will embark on a full scale UK tour in December. Keep off 'em Pete....
