Prince playing London Gig tonight (9th Feb) at Shepherds Bush Empire

Prince will continue his run of playing small clubs in the capital tonight by appearing at Shepherds Bush Empire. He will be joined by his group, 3rd Eye in a show that was confirmed this morning on Cerys Matthews' BBC 6Music show.

Last week the legendary performer and 3rd Eye Girl played two gigs at the Camden Electric Ballroom. Fans waited outside for hours with no idea how many of them would be let in or how much a ticket would cost. In the end not everyone was allowed in but those who were saw Prince on stage for just £10. The set opened with ‘Let's Go Crazy’ and continued with tracks like 'Funk N Roll', 'She's Always In My Hair’ and 'Guitar'.

Prince has said that he won’t play large venues while he’s in London. After playing at Electric Ballroom in Camden on February 4, he said that he will stick to intimate venues such as Ronnie Scott's and Bag O' Nails Club in Soho, although he’s keeping fans on their toes by not announcing dates for those venues as yet.

Unfortunately, the singer won’t be playing at O2 Arena as he did in 2007. He called that “a different time, this is a different band.” When reporters asked how long he will be staying in London, he said: “We're going to be here until people don't want to hear us any more,” which bodes well for his many fans in the capital. Ticket prices for any of the gigs which have become known as “Prince’s secret London gigs” haven’t been announced but the star said: “We want to charge about $10 a ticket. This is a new band, people are getting something new.”
