Pulp Non-Fiction

When it comes to festivals, there’s so many in the music calendar these days that any man and his tambourine could get a slot on the bill. But there is one band that are officially the king of kings, peerless & unchallenged in a festival field and they are Pulp.

The Jarvis Cocker led outfit were designed to play festivals, in 2002 they decided to take a hiatus but at the weekend they made their triumphant UK festie return. Second on the bill to the Foo Fighters, Pulp played the main stage at the Isle Of Wight Festival on Saturday night (June 11), piledriving through hit after hit that included ‘Common People’, ‘Do You Remember The First Time’ and ‘Babies’.

During a trademark ramble between songs, Cocker commented on their time off joking that they hadn’t played together since ‘11 June, 1981’.
