Purple reign?

It feels as though we’ve only just packed up our tent for another year, after a fine summer’s worth of festival fun, and yet they’re already announcing acts for next year’s Glastonbury shebang, and have flat sold out of tickets too. So who’s up for rocking the crusty crowd in 2011?

Well, unfortunately dreary Dad Rock bores Coldplay and U2 will most likely be headlining, but we also have pop’s funkiest midget Prince bringing the party, which will surely make it a festival to remember. The purple one rocked the O2 Arena in London for weeks a couple of years back, and his live shows are legendary, so hopefully he’ll bring a bit of colour to an otherwise drab-sounding line up.

‘Michael was very keen to get the line-up sorted early and is over the moon at securing such massive acts,’ said a source to The Sun. ‘He is a huge fan of Prince and has been trying to nab him for years. The fact it's been tied up so quickly is a big but welcome shock.

‘Coldplay are currently in negotiations about taking a headline slot. Michael has previously said Coldplay's set in 2005 was his personal favourite and is very pleased to be welcoming them back.

‘U2 were a fairly obvious capture. Michael immediately had his sights set on them after they were forced to cancel this year and they were very happy to oblige.’
