Radiohead file sharers targeted

When Radiohead released their album ‘In Rainbow’ it was considered a landmark album because it was officially the first long player to be given away for free. But in a fit of irony, authorities are insisting that internet bloggers remove the album from their file sharing sites.

Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) who have issued the plea say the bloggers ‘have not been authorised' to post the album as a ‘free download’.

It’s not known if this is to be the first of many attempts to clamp down on file sharing, or what the penalties will be if bloggers fail to remove ‘In Rainbows'. Radiohead themselves haven’t commented on the case.
