Radiohead’s Johnny Greenwood to score Tilda Swinton film

It’s been quite a week for Radiohead fans. Not only are the band releasing their new album ‘The King of Limbs’ on Saturday (February 19th) but guitarist, Jonny Greenwood, has found time to confirm his musical involvement in Lynne Ramsey’s upcoming film ‘We Need to Talk about Kevin’.

As the guardian report, this is not Greenwood’s first foray into the world of film scores. He has written three soundtracks to date including his award winning début soundtrack for Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘There Will be Blood’. He also scored the music for a film adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s ‘Norwegian Wood’, which will be released in the UK on March 11th.

Greenwood may be well experienced, but scoring for the adaptation of Lionel Shriver’s 2003 novel looks set to be his biggest challenge yet. The novel depicts the story of a mother (played by Tilda Swinton) dealing with the aftermath of her troubled son’s killing spree. Hardly easy content matter - even for a member of Radiohead!

'We Need to Talk about Kevin' is scheduled for release in the UK on September 2nd.
