Radiohead’s latest – so how much is it worth?

Radiohead grabbed the column inches earlier this month when the band announced their new album In Rainbows will be available for digital download on a pay-what-you-can basis. But how many copies have been ordered so far, and how much have the fans paid?

Funnily enough, the band aren’t saying but music website NME has been asking its readers how much they’re willing to pay. Based on their replies the hacks at NME reckon the band will get an average of around £5 per album. Plus, lots of Radiohead aficionados have been ordering the “discobox” deluxe version of the album, which costs around £40. Not a bad showing for the Oxford boys then – maybe offering albums altruistically is a pretty good idea... for bands, as well as fans.
