Red Hot Chili Peppers to end two-year hiatus in October

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have announced that they are to end their two-year hiatus in October when they will start work on a new album.

The band's drummer Chad Smith announced the news during an interview with Billboard magazine: "It'll be two years in September, so now we're ready. You can't force people to play when they don't want to play or aren't ready to play or whatever – not in our band, anyway."

Smith continued by outlining the Chili Peppers' plans for the forthcoming sessions telling Billboard that the band will "do a lot of improvising and jamming and songs will come out of that. That's what we usually do. I don't know why it would be different".

The American funk rockers released their last album 'Stadium Arcadium' back in 2006.
