Rihanna defends Man Down video

Rihanna certainly seems to be attracting a lot of controversy recently: first it was her raunchy Billboard Awards display with Britney Spears, in which she cavorted around wearing not very much, now it’s the video for ‘Man Down’ which has got the Parents Television Council hot under the collar again.

They say the video, which starts with her shooting a man in a train station before revealing what happened the rest of that day (she’s sexually assaulted on a night out), apparently ‘accepts murder’. Rihanna, who is clearly tired of being asked to be a moral guardian to children.

‘I'm a 23 year old rockstar with NO KIDS! What's up with everybody wantin' me to be a parent? I'm just a girl, I can only be your/our voice! (sic)’, she ranted on Twitter. ‘Cuz we all know how difficult/embarrassing it is to communicate touchy subject matters to anyone especially our parents! The music industry isn't exactly Parents R Us! We have the freedom to make art, LET US!

‘It’s your job to make sure they dont turn out like US. U can't hide your kids from society, or they'll never learn how to adapt! This is the REAL WORLD.’
